Raleigh Cadent & Alysa
One of Raleigh’s strongest catagories of bikes is their performance hybrid group (also known as flat-handlebar road bikes). The Cadent models (best for tall riders) and Alysa models (designed for women and men under 5’9″) pack a lot of great components and smart design into some surpisingly affordable bikes.
The Cadent 2 and Alysa 2 come with complete Shimano component groups (not mix-and-match parts), light-weight wheels, and trusty mechanical disc brakes.
The hydroformed and internally butted aluminum framesets deliver quick handling, good acceleration, and flat-bar bike comfort in the same weight range as a similarly priced road bike.
Speaking of prices, The Cadent and Alysa series are full of bikes that are really budget-friendly. The entry level Cadent and Alysa models come in around $400, and the top-end versions (with hydraulic disc brakes) are still under $800.
