Trek 7.2 FX and 7.2 FX Disc
The 7.2 FX is the most popular adult bike model made by Trek, the biggest bike brand in the country.
What makes this bike so well received? Well, it does a lot of things really well, works for a lot of different terrain, riders and riding styles, and comes packed with good features at a great price.
Trek’s 7.2 FX bikes are so user-friendly, and work well for so many different types of riders, we have used this model for our fleet of rental bikes for over five years now.
The 7.2 FX is a great pick for a fast and capable every day commuter bike. You ride in a comfortable, upright position while you keep an eye on traffic. The parts are tough, and the bike requires little maintenance besides keeping it clean and putting air in the tires. For hardcore commuting there is the 7.2 FX disc, an upgraded disc brake version (which has a bit better stopping power in rainy weather).
It works great for running errands, and can handle racks, baskets, and fenders. It’s stable with a heavy load on it, and you can ride it comfortably in regular clothes.
These bikes now come with integrated frame mounts for your bike computer or iphone. This means you can get speed, mileage, cadence and all kinds of other data sent to your handlebar stem-mounted computer or phone, and not have to run cords down your frame or zip-tie ugly sensors to your pretty bicycle frame.
The 7.2 is fast and fun for getting fit and riding with friends. It’s almost as light and efficient as a road bike, and it’s pretty off-road capable with just a change of tires.
This bike does it all pretty well, and thanks to a price reduction from Trek, you can now get this capable bike for less than $500.
