We have a trade-up program for kids’ bikes, therefore we have used kids’ bikes for you to buy.

The selection varies, so check in here or visit the store to see what we have on hand.

Bikes with 12” wheels are for the littlest kids, usually 3 year olds. Bikes with 16” wheels work for the 4 to 5 year age range, 20” bikes for 5 to 7 year olds, and 24” wheeled biked take 7 or 8 year old kids all the way to 12 years (usually around 4’10” in height, at which point they graduate to adult bikes that are measured by frame size, not wheel size.

These bikes are usually ones that we originally sold, and lots of them even come with the original warranty.

We tune-up each bicycle to make sure that they are safe and ready for the next child to enjoy. Some bikes have new parts, and we stand behind all of our used bikes with a one year warranty.

Fuji Dynamite Pro

The Dynamite Pro is a real mountain bike, shrunken down to fit junior. It comes with the same range of gears as a full-sized bike, with a size-adjusted front suspension fork, disc brakes and trigger-style shifters. Other design elements that we take for granted on adult bikes but are usually missing on kids’ bikes? Space for a water bottle cage. Quick-release levers on the wheels and seat post. Lightweight aluminum parts. A cassette-style freewheel and rear hub. Sealed bearings. These elements are all here on this Fuji.

We occasionally have used versions of these bikes for purchase (check out our used bike listings), and we will consider taking these bikes in when your child is ready to move up to an adult bike. Likewise, be sure to ask us about trade-ins if you’re sitting with a garage full of out-grown kids’ bikes.

Is your 8 year old kind of picky? The Marin Donkey Jr. might be the bike to get. Kids (both boys and girls) seem to like the colors, the ride quality and the way the parts work.

These bikes were originally meant for bike shops in Japan, but when supplies of kids’ bikes ran low back in 2020, Marin diverted some of these great little bikes and sent them to the U.S.

The Donkey model is the next step beyond 20″ coaster-brake starter bikes. Perfect for riding to school, trying out the Grand Forest trails, or commuting to work (it’s never too early!). This Marin has gears to help tame a hilly neighborhood and a light aluminum fork (suspension adds 3 pounds to most kids’ bikes) so little kids can manage their bikes better on the trails. The wheels have quick-release axles so loading the bike into the car will be a snap.

Family rides will be more fun, as these light-weight geared bikes are designed so that your kids can lead the way, not struggle behind.

Made with aluminum frames and components, this bike can fit a water bottle and it comes with a quick adjust lever for the seat height.

Haro FL20 and 20+

These little mountain bikes are so cool, they may get more attention from junior than the phone or the dog.
So maybe you’ll need to train the dog to go mountain biking.

Haro’s Flite Line models have all of the features that you’d expect from adult-size mountain bikes, only they’re not for adults. Even though they’re designed for kids, The bikes come with features like suspension forks, plus-size tires, rack mounts and lightweight aluminum frames. They come with grip shifters. There’s the super fat tires and a 1X shifter system on the 20+. Both versions get a single front ring and bash guards surrounding the chain. These bikes have quick-release seat clamps (almost as good as a dropper seatpost for a little kid), and there’s even room for water bottle cages!

Fuji’s Rookie series of bikes have some great choices for little girls and boys. The colors are bold and sparkly, with girls’ models available in very purple as well as a not-so-purple paint option. They come in the 16” wheel size (for kids 4-6 years old) with training wheels, and in versions with 20” wheels (for slightly older or taller kids) with kickstands.

All of the bikes have coaster (pedal) brakes, and the 20″ version has an additional hand brake.

Marin San Quentin 24

Get your little riding buddy on a fast and capable bike and you’ll get to ride faster yourself.

The Marin San Quentin is a premium quality off-road rig with better features than every other kids’ hardtail mountain bike out there. To start with, you get quick-release levers on the rear wheel and seatpost, and a thru-axle for the front wheel. You get a 1x drivetrain with 11 gears (shifting with a trigger-shifter instead of a twist-grip). Parts that are often constructed out of heavy steel on other kids’ bikes are made from light aluminum on this one. There’s a cartridge bottom bracket that’ll keep the water out of the crank area, and the control cables are fully shielded from the levers to the derailleurs which will protect the wires from rust and grit.

…And a 20” version for kids 5 to 8

This Marin has an air-sprung Rockshox suspension fork with aluminum (not heavy chromed steel) sliders and an adjustable spring rate and a lock-out switch.
Oh wait, the brakes! Did we mention that you get Shimano hydraulic disc brakes on this bike? Yep. That’s right. A kids’ bike that actually stops when they want it to stop. How about that?

Get your little buddy this Marin and she’ll be leading you down the trail instead of lagging behind.

Dynamite!

Absolutely dynamite. This is a fantastic kids’ bike at a good price. Outfitted with a few key features (and omitting other distracting add-ons), this Fuji is configured just right for a lot of kids out there.
The Dynamite has an adjustable suspension fork, so a rider can hit the trails behind the house and not get too rattled. All of the parts like the saddles, handlebars, brake levers, pedals and cranks are scaled down to fit your 4 to 5′ tall rider really well. You get a genuine Shimano derailleur, lightweight aluminum components and even a chainguard. The Dynamite has an aluminum frame, so it’s nice and light (an important feature when you only weigh 70 pounds).

These bikes come equipped with 7 gears controlled by a single grip-shifter, a combination that seems to be just about the right amount of complexity for kids moving into their first geared bike.
Like most of Fuji’s bikes, these models come in some great colors that are sure to please even the pickiest little rider.
The bikes are built to be tough, and should last long enough to be handed down to a little brother or sister (or traded in for the next size bike).

Four-year-olds probably don’t care that Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Marco Pantani and Jan Ulrich all raced on Bianchi bicycles.

The concept of 130 years, much less the concept of a 130 year-old bike company, is probably lost on preschoolers.

Bianchi’s signature celeste color, by legend the color of queen Margherita’s eyes, is just a blue-green without a corresponding crayon to most kids.

Your child will probably just think that their bike is the best simply because it’s theirs.

Haro Flightline 24 and 24+

Haro has a 24″ wheel bike that fits just right.

If junior wants a bike with hand brakes and a shock fork, but doesn’t really care about having a full compliment of 21 gears, the Flightline may be just the thing. The Flightline trades the extra weight and expense of a 21 speed drivetrain for a single front chainring, and uses the extra cash for upgrading the rest of the bike.
This Flightline is built with a nice and light aluminum frame, V-brakes, and 7- speed twist-shift shifting. The tires have a good combination tread for sidewalks, roadways, and forest trails. Unlike a lot of bikes this size, the Haro has mounts for a full-size waterbottle cage, and it comes with a quick release lever for adjusting the seat height.

Haro FL 24+

The 24+ version trades the suspension fork for the extra shock absorption and control of 3” wide tires. The V-brakes get upgraded to disc brakes and the shifting system adds one more gear. The 24+ is an extremely easy to ride off-road option that will give junior the comfort and control of a full suspension bike without tacking on the extra weigh, complexity, and price.

If you are looking for a real mountain bike for your 8 to 12 year-old, look no further.

Marin’s Bayview Trail 24 puts all of the off-road technology that you would find on a good adult hardtail into this small package.

These bikes come with 80mm-travel Suntour suspension forks that are appropriately sprung for small riders, and they even have adjustable pre-load springs. The lightweight double-wall wheels come with quick release levers for easy maintenance and travel. Overall weight is reduced with high quality aluminum construction all around. The handlebars, stem, seatpost, crankset, derailleurs, brakes, and even spoke nipples utilize better materials to make the bike light and trouble free. The stem is the threadless style (not the old-fashioned quill style), which is more easily adjusted and about a half-pound lighter.

There’s space for a water bottle cage. The seat height is adjustable with a quick-release lever. The cables that control the brakes and shifters run housing uninterrupted from the controls down, so if the bike is left out in the rain, the cables won’t get rusty. Even the cheap steel freewheels typically found on the back wheel of most kids bikes have been replaced by lighter and more durable 7-speed cassette-style gears.

Shifting and braking effort is nice and easy for small hands with quality Shimano Altus derailleurs and smooth Tektro V-brakes.

Okay, the bike is clearly higher quality than what you get from Specialized, Diamondback, Giant or Trek. How much more does it set you back? It runs about $30 more than most of those brands, which is about what it would cost you to replace the stock bolt-on front wheel axle from one of those bikes with a quick-release version.

Haro Leucadia DLX

If you’d like to be riding something with brakes at the skate park rather than skating, you need a bike that’ll handle the job.

This is the Haro Leucadia DLX, named after the hometown of Bob Haro, the OG of BMX and skate park freestyle.

The bike is tough. It’ll handle awkward jump landings and missed tricks easily (you may not fair as well… Wear your elbow guards and knee pads when attempting new tricks). You get a 3-piece crank, good pedals, axle pegs and tough wheels. There’s even a Gyro detangler to keep the brake cables from winding up.

The Leucadia is available in a couple of different colors, and if we don’t have the one you want in stock it only takes a couple of days to get it.

This Marin is a real mountain bike for your 6 to 8 year old.

The Hidden Canyon moves your child past the training wheels and coaster-brake starter bikes and into a geared bike with hand brakes. If your neighborhood is hilly, it means junior can ride instead of walking up hills. You can go further together than if the little guy or gal were struggling to keep up on a single-speed.

These Marins come with hand brakes (discs even!), a lightweight aluminum fork, chain guards, and 7 gears with a twist-grip style shifter. They are built to the same quality standards as our adult bikes. Most of the parts are made out of aluminum instead of steel, so the bike is rust-resistant and the overall weight is a whole lot less than a typical kids bike.

There’s a quick-release seat post clamp for height adjustments and sealed cartridge bearing headsets and bottom brackets for extra durability (and a lighter weight bike).
By the way, you get quick-release hubs on the wheels so you can easily remove a wheel to fit the bike in the car.

These bikes aren’t disposable junk. When your kid outgrows his or her Marin, these bikes will still be viable, ride-able bikes that can be traded in or passed on to the next child (and the next after that one).

So you need some wheels.

You have places to go and people to see. The guys are meeting for juice boxes after school, and how are you supposed to get there? Walk?

You can’t drive, obviously. You’re too short to reach the steering wheel, much less see over the dashboard. The other thing is, mom and dad have been hogging the car keys. You got in trouble the last time you tried to ride the dog, and of course, skateboards are deathtraps.

What you really need is a Haro Shredder. It’s fast, it’s convenient. It has a kickstand.

If you are looking for a high performance mountain bike for your 8 to 12 year-old, look no further.

There are a couple of full suspension 24″ bikes out there (we can get you a Kona or a Marin), but they run over $1500 and can hinder the acquisition of some finer off-road bike handling skills (by doing the work for the rider). A nicer hardtail like this Fuji will make junior faster and more capable without dumbing down the riding experience.

Fuji’s Dynamite Elite puts all of the off-road technology that you would find on an adult hardtail into this small package. The Elite comes with a 80mm travel suspension fork with a lockout. The brakes are Shimano Deore hydraulic discs. The Deore 2 x 9 drivetrain is smooth and precise. The lightweight double-wall wheels come with quick releases for easy maintenance and travel. Overall weight is reduced with high quality aluminum construction all around. The handlebars, stem, seatpost, crankset, derailleurs, brakes, and even spoke nipples utilize better materials to make the bike light and trouble free. Even the cheap plastic pedals typically found on kids bikes have been replaced by high quality Wellgo platform pedals.

These little Fuji mountain bikes are the first steps beyond training wheels and coaster-brakes. Family rides and trips to school will be more fun than with starter bikes as these light-weight geared bikes are designed so that the children can lead the way, not struggle behind.
The Dynamite 20 has a scaled-down suspension fork, so little riders can hit the trails on the way to school and not get too rattled. The Dynamite has an aluminum frame, so it’s nice and light (an important feature when you only weigh 50 pounds).

Dynamite 20s come equipped with a rear derailleur and has 6 gears controlled by a single grip-shifter along with hand brakes. No coaster brakes on these bikes, but the parts selection should be simple enough for kids moving into their first geared bike. Dynamites come in some great colors, and should last long enough to be handed down to a little brother or sister (or traded in for the next size bike).

Balance bikes are a great alternative to tricycles or little bikes with training wheels. With a balance bike, your child will learn to ride a bike much more quickly than with training wheels. Bad habits get corrected naturally, and there is no confusion about pedaling direction and coaster brake application. Junior will be safer too, as steep off-camber yards and driveways are much less treacherous than with a tippy tricycle.

Kazam has made great balance bikes for your little one. They come with pneumatic rubber tires, not slippery hard plastic wheels. The frames are made out of aluminum, not steel. Whole bikes weigh much less than what you’ll get at a toy store, and will be easier for a small child to handle. If you have a steep driveway and yard you can get a version with a hand brake. There are plenty of bright colors. Kazam balance bikes come in orange, green, blue, red and pink. Pretty good value too, coming in at $120.

If you ever feel like running away and joining the circus, you had better be prepared. Learn to ride a unicycle! It’s fun. It’s (relatively) easy. A lot of the junior high schools in the area have unicycling as part of their gym program. Once you learn how, you could ride a unicycle in the Chilly Hilly next year! Heck, you could join dozens of unicycle riders in the Kingston or Bainbridge Island July Fourth parades.

Or you could learn how to juggle.

We stock basic Torker brand unicycles, and can order more deluxe versions with just a couple of days lead time. We keep replacement unicycle pedals, saddles, bearings and tires in stock all of the time.
