The best bike.

O.K. I know we said that the Colnago C64 (and the C50 & C59) was the best road bike ever made, but this C68 is like four more better.

Usually the flagship Colnago can be considered the bicycle equivilant of a beautiful Italian underwear model. They are intimidating, stunning to look at and um, ride. The C68 is kind of like that, only this model happens to have a masters degree from Stanford and knows how to fly an airplane too.

The C68 rides and handles perfectly, just like the C64, but with just a touch less twisting in the front end. The bottom bracket and the rear end of the bike feel just a touch springier. The C64 was incredibly light, but this one happens to be aerodynamic as well. All of the brake hoses and shift wires run inside of the frame, fork and handlebar. With the unusual tubing and lug shapes, Colnago doesn’t have to rely just on adhesives in the carbon to keep the frame from twisting, as the shaped lugs do the work here too.

The bicycle equivalent of a Ferrari (actually type “Ferrari” and “Colnago” into Google and see what I mean), the C68 will feel solid and sure on the scariest roads. Colnago knows that in order to be fast, a bike must be comfortable enough to ride for hours and inspire confidence (not trepidation) when it comes to high speeds, turns and descents. The C68 handles like a dream, is light as a feather, and pretty enough to sit in the living room instead of the garage.

These bikes come in eight stock size increments as well as custom, an “allroad” version for fatter tires and gravel riding, a nearly infinite number of paint schemes, and with any components that you desire. Come on in today and we can one started for you.

Colnago V1-R

Aerodynamic road bikes generally don’t handle so well.
Super-light climbing bikes are usually a little whippy.
Super-stiff racing road bikes typically aren’t the most comfortable.
It’s a good thing that the Colnago V1-R isn’t your typical road bike.

The V1-r is a super-light (780 grams for a 60cm frame), extremely aerodynamic road bike that climbs and sprints better than anything we have ever ridden. Like all Colnagos, the V1-R handles beautifully, and has enough flex built into the frame and fork that the V1-R won’t beat you up if you want to spend long hours in the saddle.

The aerodynamic Kammtail tubing design (and wind tunnel time) of the V1-R was made possible with the help of another Italian legend, Ferrari. Colnago and Ferrari have been sharing material and design ideas for years.

A local observer of our photo shoot decided that he should be associated with Colnago, Ferrari, and all things fast. Yep, that’s one fast snail crawling up the wall behind our bike.

The Master is the only bike model that has been so consistently good, so ahead of it’s time, that it has been relatively unchanged and continuously available for over 30 years. The paint and construction style makes it a work of art. The diamond-shaped steel tubing still rides terrific (the modern tubing even weighs less than the original Gilco pipes). Still made in Italy, still one of the best around. Available in 1cm size increments from 46cm to 64cm.

They aren’t made out of carbon fiber.

They aren’t even titanium. They’re ceramic coffee mugs emblazoned with Colnago’s original head tube logo or their modern logo.

It’s like having a bumper sticker on your car that says “My other car is a bicycle”, only this mug that says “When I’m not pushing papers in the office I’m out pushing the pedals of my Colnago.”

Colnago Road

Ernesto Colnago makes our favorite bikes. They are beautiful, stylish, and they are the best handling bikes that you can find. You may think that you would want to baby your new Colnago, but the reality is different. Your Colnago is the bike that you want to ride when the roads are slick, the pavement is rough, or you have dozens of squirelly riding partners to navigate around. Paul has ridden Colnagos since he was 15, and wanted to bring them in to Classic Cycle.
