Cheers!

Raise your glass and toast this fabulous creation from Raleigh, the Rainier Beer Company, and Classic Cycle.

So… The Raleigh Port Townsend was a current model (for the 2015 model year) and it is a fantastic and fun road or hybrid bike.

The Port Townsend’s styling takes all of its cues from Rainier Beer cans, but we thought we could make it a bit better.  All of the components needed to look like they were made from Rainier cans, so the white, gold, and red is everywhere.  The stock gold fenders and 12-pack rack are cool, but we changed them out for light-weight options that fit the theme.

Notable touches include pilsner-colored brake cables and quick-release skewers. Hammered aluminum Berthoud fenders look like they were made from cans, and the Shimano generator front hub is about as svelte as one. The brakes come from Paul Components, the red headset from the folks at Chris King, and there’s a generator light shaped like a keg from Supernova.

Paul wanted to include some “Classic” parts from Ritchey, so there’s a stem and seatpost from them. Tan Clement Strada tires keep the bike from leaving rings on the coffee table, and cork Ergon grips work like a can cozy.

Lastly, be sure to bring a bottle opener. You don’t want the Rainier beer cap on the stem to give you any trouble when you’re adjusting the headset.

By the way, this bike illustrates the fun results when you take a stock model and run with all kinds of custom ideas. It doesn’t have to be crazy expensive either. This tricked-out custom Port Townsend would have run you about $2000.
