2005 Trek Rail

2005 Trek Rail cruiser

Pretty cool bike, don’t you think?
Particularly cool considering one of the biggest bike companies in the world decided to make it.
Outrageously cool considering that it came from a bike factory in rural Wisconsin, not a California beach town.

In 2004, some guy at Trek was working on their CNC mill, probably making a display bike for the trade show booth, or a one-of-a-kind cruiser for himself to ride around the Waterloo factory grounds.

Plenty of spots to hang a U-lock

Some other guy at Trek, maybe even the big cheese(head), John Burke, saw this creation and said “What the heck, lets build some of those.”

In 2005, Trek introduced their Rail cruiser.  It’s just a fun, cool looking bike.
