We have some fairly significant jerseys in our museum collection. Come in and check them out.

First there are the stage-race awarded jerseys. In bike racing, the race leader (and sprinters competition or climbers competition leader) are often awarded special jerseys for their achievements (and to mark him or her as the racer to beat).  Notable jerseys in this category include Gilberto Simoni’s 2003 Giro d’ Italia pink leaders jersey, Zach McDonald’s USGP of Cyclocross series winner jersey, Peter Nowadnick’s Tour of Enumclaw (I know, impressive!) jersey, the climbers jersey from the 1988 Coors Classic (worn by our own Gavin O’Grady), Tim Rutherford’s 7-Eleven Gran Prix jersey and Lance Armstrong’s yellow jersey from the 2001 Tour de France.

Doris Kopsky, first female national cycling champion

State, national and world champions are awarded jerseys as well as medals in bike racing. From this category we have the Washington State Champion jerseys won by Rolling Bay Wheelmen Zach McDonald, Peter Nowadnick and Lucas Weyand. National Champion jerseys from Doris Kopsky (the first female national champion in cycling) Jimmy Lauf (1949), and Zach McDonald. Mads Pedersen, the professional road race world champion in 2019 (and our friend Kiel’s teammate) donated one of his jerseys to us as well.

Significant past cycling teams, riders and clubs are alive on our walls with their old clothing. We have a 1999 U.S. National Team jersey that was signed by all of the riders Paul had to wrench for that year. There’s Willie Honeman’s Bay View Wheelman jersey from the 1930’s.
